Compare Turkish media to other international media- do you see a difference? If so, in what way is there a difference?

Turkish media is like the youngest child of the family who imitates the older brother . This child wants to do something on his own ,but he needs more help and the others know much more. Turkey started to open to the world and see what is happening in the world after Özal’s presidence ,so that Turkish media catched the others lately same as the other things.

What are  the consequences of being such late ? ;Firstly the channels which belong to the companies were brand new and walking with small steps when the international channels such as 75 year old BBC started to run. What we do now is copying from the world , actually just from the America. Reality shows such as American Idol , So You Think You Can Dance or the competition Who Wants To Be A Millionaire were broadcasted in Turkish channels with their Turkish versions . There are of course some domestic programmes which are %100 original and successful ,but not enough. The situation isn’t different in the press ,we are reading magazines such as Instyle , Madame Figaro translated into turkish . How could this be expected to be successful without producing more and more ?

To be honest Turkish media is also lack of instructive or informative sides . We are entertained ,but isn’t that a little waste of time ? Whenever i watch BBC or RTL , i see how the qualitative media must be. I repeat myself that there are some amazing and very classy programmes such as Şeffaf Oda by Güneri Civaoğlu on the Channel D  , but not enough . Companies should leave  the rating and financial worries and do some real work , since the media is an efficient way to inform and lighten the people.

The child should be grown up  and learn much more from the big brothers…
